How I Batch Content

How I Batch Content

Whether you are a fitness instructor, small business owner or both, you are more than likely trying to expand your brand in the great big world of social media. For me, figuring out the latest algorithm and what to post and share next is my least favorite part of the gig. So to help keep me more at the barre and less on my phone, I have had to learn how to create the best possible content for my audience while taking up the least amount of my time. Batching content has been such a game changer for me and allows me to share what I love doing with the world while still doing what I love the most!

1.) Be Intentional. First things first, I had to set aside time to actually do the thang. At first I had to break it up into multiple sessions, but now I have it narrowed down to one hour a week of batching content. I set a timer for how long I have allotted for the task, set my phone to “Do Not Disturb” and get to it. If I am not done by the time the timer goes off, I move on to my next task and circle back around to it after. This tended to happen the first few weeks of trying this, but now I am in such a groove that I tend to finish up a few minutes early!

2.) Have a Plan. Next step into how I batch my content is to come up with a plan on what it will actually look like. I typically batch one week at a time and have created a social media calendar with a theme for each day of the week: every Monday is a certain type of post, every Tuesday is a certain type of post, etc etc. I also like to look ahead at what is coming up (holidays, launches, announcements, etc) and create my posts based off of that. Having themes and set days for specific types of content has been crucial in helping me create a system that flows and saves me time and head space. It’s pretty much just plug and play at this point.

3.) Ready, Set, Schedule. Now that you have created the content, it’s time to post it! For the longest time I felt chained to social media apps at specific hours of the day to create and post. To save time, I now schedule ahead. Side note, Facebook allows you to schedule in advance, but Instagram not so much. I paste my copy into my Notes app and then copy and paste into Instagram on the intended day. I will then hang around for about 10-15 minutes to respond to comments on my previous day’s post and comment on other accounts. I will check-in once more towards the end of the day, and that’s it! Suuuuuccchhh a time saver!

Unfortunately, social media is a necessary evil to our brand and business. Batching content has really helped me get back to what I love doing while also helping to grow my business online. The key is to be consistent with your time, your plan and your posting.
