Why I am NOT the Instructor for You

Why I am NOT the Instructor for You

Probably not the blog title you were expecting, hey? After more than five years of teaching barre, I have learned that I am not for everyone, and not everyone is for me - and that’s perfectly ok! When looking for the right fitness instructor, there are a few things you will need to take into consideration, other than that you just like their format, sassy pants and class times. A lot of my clients would probably somewhat jokingly describe our relationship as a “love-hate” one, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way! Ready to take the plunge?! Read on to find out why I might not be the right instructor for you!

1.) I’ll hold you accountable. Don’t want your fitness instructor checking in on you after being MIA for a few classes? Not a fan of scheduling your next class ahead of time? Prefer excuses rather than solutions? Then I am definitely not for you. As your barre instructor, I am going to hold you accountable. If I haven’t seen you in class in a few days or weeks, I most likely will reach out and check in on you. I don’t do this to send you on a guilt-trip, but rather find out if everything is ok and what I can do to help you keep on track! I also won’t let excuses get in the way of your goals! There is always an answer to every problem, and I find it part of my “job description” to help you find it! Whether it’s a modification of an exercise due to an injury, or changing the time of our 1-on-1 session to accommodate your daughter’s recital, together we will find a solution!

2.) I’ll show you just how strong you really are. I am not the instructor for you if you prefer having limits. All of my clients know that I like to remove the negative self-talk of “I’m too weak to do blah blah blah” and replace it with “I am getting strong enough to do blah blah blah.” My philosophy is more “not yet” instead of “not at all.” Taking it step by step, I will show you what you are truly capable of, both physically and mentally. If you don’t like surprising yourself, then I am probably not your jam.

3.) I’ll keep you wanting more. If you don’t want to become an addict, then I am not the instructor for you. After just a few weeks, my Barre Babes form a healthy addiction and love of all things barre and can’t seem to get enough. They start to transform not only their bodies, but also their minds, and replace Happy Hour at the bar with Happy Hour at the BARRE! Because of how I change up my workouts, there is never an opportunity to get bored and there is always room for improvement. Once a week barre dates will turn into twice a week, which will then turn into “sorry girl, but I’ve got barre!”

Still considering joining me for a barre class?! I sure hope so! The relationships that I form with my clients are some of my most favorite ever, and I like to think it’s because we get to see the best and “worst” of each other! If you want to be held accountable, find out how strong you really are and push past any limitations you thought you might have and still want to keep showing up, then maybe I really AM the instructor for you! ;)

Want a 1-on-1 class to help set your goals and get ahead of the game? I am now booking private sessions either in person for locals or via FaceTime and Skype! Send me an email here to get yours scheduled!

Hope to see you at the barre soon!

Cheers,

Heather McCreight
